Kindred Quaker Groups
Earthcare activities in Britain Yearly Meeting

LIVING WITNESS PROJECT is a network exploring and promoting awareness of the need for a green lifestyle.

"Led By The Spirit We Encounter God In The Fragile Web Of Life; In Our Human Relationships And In The Beauty And Joy Of The Earth, Our Planet Home.…It Is A Gift To Be Treasured And Passed On With Care. We Are Shamed By The Damage We Do To That Gift.… Creation 'Groans And Travails' Under The Burden Of Human Exploitation And The Idolatry Of Consumerism, Which Is Sacrificing Our Future On The Altar Of Greed. We Are Called To Urgent Action…. "

Britain Yearly Meeting 2001

We are living dangerously:

Putting economic growth above the health of our planet and its people
Continuing the behaviour that is causing global warming despite warnings from scientists
Using finite resources as if they were infinite
Polluting the whole earth - soil, air and water
Using living beings as if they were objects without feelings, rights or value.
We feel, as Quakers:

That the whole of life is sacramental
That we should deepen our personal beliefs and express them through the lifestyle we lead
That we should try to make our lifestyle sustainable.

"Show A Loving Consideration For All Creatures, And Seek To Maintain The Beauty And Variety Of The World. Work To Ensure That Our Increasing Power Over Nature Is Used Responsibly, With Reverence For Life. Rejoice In The Splendour Of God's Continuing Creation."
